The Climbing Instructors Academy (CIA) is an international climbing organization that provides world recognized climbing progression certification. CIA started out as a Hong Kong based climbing organization and the courses & certifications are currently available in various countries. The number of climbing organisations and companies adopting the CIA Certifications in the region are currently growing rapidly.

What makes CIA courses different is that the courses are broken down into many different specialised categories. As a beginner, participants have a choice of mastering Indoor and outdoor climbing separately or do it together. Besides that, CIA is the first certification body to emphasise a fun introduction to the sport of climbing through our non-certification programs. This will allow a great introduction to the sport for absolute beginners in a professionally supervised environment.

On the other end, experienced climbers who wants to advance significantly in their skillsets could get certified in speciality training courses aimed at mastering certain aspects of safety equipment handling and some could also achieve the pinnacle of becoming a professional certified climber.

Our certification based courses are divided according to the needs of every stage of a climber's journey.

1. For climber's who take the sport solely as a fun activity, we have our Recreational Climbing Certifications which teaches participants to be able to perform better as a result of improvement in climbing techniques and also due to the confidence in handling safety equipment. A recreational climber could move up to become a professional climber.
2. Some people would like to take up climbing and its related skills as a career. There are many skillsets required in this industry. From coaching to safety/work-at-height, from rescue climbing to setting up recreational courses. The Speciality Courses and Professional Certifications enables people to be able to take their interests and turn it into a rewarding lifestyle career.

By having this certification system in place, we aim to help take climbing to greater heights and popularity as the ultimate sport. The CIA system adheres to the core pr.ples of “START climbing, KEEP climbing & TEACH climbing”. By stating this, we hope to create a climbing culture that is dynamic in terms of performance and most importantly, an advanced knowledge in safety.
